Step 1: we prepare the cement
First step for make concrete pots, prepare cement. Since we are talking about concrete for the effect, but real concrete is a cement-based building material and in decoration, it is much easier to be satisfied with it. Visually, the result is the same. The instructions are therefore simply followed, mixing the cement with water in the container provided for this purpose, until a thick preparation is obtained.
Step 2: we prepare the mold
Preparing the mold means coating it with oil to prevent the cement from sticking too much. No need to delude yourself, in most cases, it will be easier to cut the mold to unmold, hence the advantage of using old disposable packaging ... but two precautions are better than one, so we go for it oil and we coat the entire inside of the mold with a brush, then apply the same treatment to the outside of the cup.
Step 3: pour and dig
The cement is ready, the mold too? We pour the first into the second, filling only halfway. We then grab the cup or another smaller mold, to push in the center of the large mold without going to the bottom: it is this hollow that will allow to place the succulent plant and his land. It must therefore create sufficient space for the plant, while keeping several centimeters of concrete on the sides and bottom of the future pot. If necessary, we add cement to the mold after placing the cup, and we add a weight in it to avoid seeing it stand out.
Step 4: let it dry
Once the mold is well filled, you pass a knife or spatula around the edges to remove the excess cement. Then let everything dry, according to the package instructions: generally, about 72 h away from heat sources.
Step 5: unmold and decorate
When the cement is completely dry, it's time to unmold. The most patient will proceed delicately while trying to take off the mold. The others will proceed directly to the cutter, by cutting the mold to release the cement pot. As soon as it is free, it only remains to tweak: a passage of sandpaper on the edges and edges to soften, paint or wax when you do not prefer the ultra-raw side of concrete , It's ready. All you have to do is plant!
